Arkansas DHS Division of Volunteerism: The mission of the Division of Volunteerism is to promote and support national service and volunteerism in Arkansas. The division, part of the AR Department of Human Services, has offered training, technical assistance, and information to all Arkansans since 1974 and is the oldest state office of volunteerism in the nation. Economic Impact of Arkansas Volunteers 2007: Arkansas Citizens benefit greatly from the services provided by volunteers. the impact of volunteer service is felt throughout the state in terms of monetary value and the availability of services offered by organizations. The information obtained from the survey is compiled and published annually by DHS-DOV in collaboration with the University of Arkansas at Little Rock (UALR) Institute for Economic Advancement. The findings from the 2007 study are found in this publication. The estimated dollar value of volunteer time for 2008 is $20.25 per hour.
